What's more important, your happiness, or someone elses? If you had the chance to make sure a friend was happy, but in doing so messed around with your own sanity, would you do it? Is it more important to see a friend happy knowing that you've unleashed a demon upon yourself, or be able to sleep well at night, and hoping someone else will do it instead?

I think it's all about your gut instinct as to whether you put your personal interests behind those of your friends and it depends on the situation. I think by putting others before the needs of the self will always come around to benefit the individual even if they didn't want it. Happiness is an abstract concept and if the sanity of those you care about around you is kept ok, then surely you'll feel that little bit more content you're not mad!
